Welcome to Lyceum Lodge of Research No. 8682

Lyceum Lodge of Research is dedicated to research into Free Masonry and the education of Free Masons and other interested parties.

A message from the Master

I Welcome you to the Lyceum Lodge of Research website.

The Lodge although a regular lodge is somewhat unconventional . We exist to promote Masonic Knowledge and after being somewhat confined to our District of South Africa North we are excited to enter into cyberspace and further spread the words and ideals of freemasonry.

Of particular importance is the History of the Lodge as penned by one of our founder members - it shows the ethos and fun that the Lodge and its members have had whilst going about their Masonic Work . In addition is the entry made in the book a Century of Brotherhood published on the occasion of the Centenary of our District.

We also have a selection of Past Papers that we have posted to the site - these are available for download - we just ask that you credit Lyceum Lodge as the source if you use them ! - (see Past Lectures )

Finally we have our program of both papers and seminars - these will be regularly updated.

Visit us often !

Thank you
Chris Adams

Lyceum Lodge

Lyceum Lodge of Research No. 8682 is a Freemasons' Lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England. We meet at Freemasons Hall, Parktown, Johannesburg, South Africa. The Lodge was formed on the 1st of December 1975.

Most of our meetings are around the presentation of papers and lectures, some of which are available for download on this site. We receive many visitors to our meetings from other Lodges and many meetings are open to non-Masons.

We also present three different seminars, each twice a year, which are aimed at those who are interested in becoming Freemasons, those who have recently become Freemasons and those who will become Masters of their own Lodges in the near future. These seminars are important for the future of Freemasonry in that they are aimed at encouraging those who will be potentially suitable members to be come such and for them to then get the most out of their membership.

Please see our Calendar page for information on upcoming functions.
